The most important river signals always at hand!
Clear communication is important. When paddling, where verbal communication is often difficult or impossible, hand signs and non-verbal signals are essential, even more important is to master them. Especially for beginners it is useful to remember the signals quickly by an overview and to be able to agree them with paddling partners.
With our card, the most important signals are always at hand, since the waterproof card can be carried with you at all times while paddling, for example in or on your life jacket. The card is also robust enough to be fitted and attached with an eyelet (using a standard hole punch).
The card illustrates the most important signals when paddling, both for memorising beforehand and for a quick check. It is essential to agree them with your paddling partners before use.
The card contains the most important signals:
- Whistle blasts for attention and emergency
- "OK to go!" - Clean way, follow the line ahead
- "Avoid this way!" - Do not follow, wait (for further signals)
- "Go there!" (positive directional information)
- "Stop!"
- "You okay? I'm okay!" (Check)
- "Paddle hard, speed up!"
- "Keep distance, slow down!"
- "Eddy out!"
- "Scout!"
- "Portage!"
The signals on the card correspond to the current status of the international paddling community.
