The foam backrest with strap (BackBand) is supplied as standard with the GP Flow, but is also available separately or subsequently as a replacement or additionally. The BackBand is also compatible with other packrafts, provided that a receptacle (D-Ring/Grab loop) for it is available or attached.
The back strap is an alternative to inflatable backrests. Back straps are borrowed from kayaking and are making their way into packrafting. Back straps are not backrests in the usual sense. The lumbar support is more dynamic and flexible, which is preferred by performance-oriented paddlers in whitewater.
