The Crux Alpine AK 70 is an expedition backpack for longer trips with extenive equipment. The carrying system is designed for loads of 28 kg. Even carrying heavier loads (up to 35 kg) is still comparatively comfortable with the AK 70 in exceptional cases (although 35 kg itelf is never comfortable).
The large and expandable packing volume of the backpack (70 + 7 litres) creates space for bulky and heavy items of equipment that are needed, for example, in extreme situations or under expedition conditions. At the same time, the AK70's own weight of 1.500 g remains relatively light. Well compressed, the backpack is therefore also suitable for shorter tours that do not require full utilisation of the pack volume. The AK70 is therefore suitable for ultralight packrafters as well as for expedition and touring paddlers. A backpack for all situations.
Material und Construction
The fixed roll top closure under the lid and the proven material mix of 40% Kevlar® and 60% Cordura® in combination with a fully welded construction ensure that the backpack is virtually completely waterproof. In addition, the material mix offers good abrasion resistance.
The dual-warp hip belt and titanium carrying frame enable reliable and comfortable carrying of heavy loads by shifting the weight to the hips and thus relieving the shoulders. Load control straps on the shoulder and hip straps support optimal adjustment. The construction of the AK70 allows a good overall load control.
The diagonal compression straps on the sides are used to regulate the volume (especially for smaller packs). The straps also allow additional equipment to be attached to the outside of the pack (e.g. paddles). When not in use, these are also removable. Attachments for ice picks and poles make the AK70 universally usable.

"I have a Crux AK70. On my up to 14 day trekking tours I have been very satisfied. The backpack has only 1 main compartment and a waterproof roll closure. The lid compartment has a waterproof zipper. It weighs about 1.6 kg and is very slim. Test packed yesterday for packrafting. The large MRS Adventure X2 stows well between the main compartment and lid. The Cordura reinforced with Kevlar at the bottom is almost indestructible. Bought approx 5 years ago." Michael B.
