Anfibio Sigma, but longer and with TubeBags
The TXL is the long-awaited variant of the proven Anfibio Sigma with extra-large TubeBags (storage inside the tube) and 20 cm longer inside. Therefore L stands for Long and XL for Extralarge while the T stays for Team. The flexible positioning of the front seat and the variable fixing of the second backrest add versatility. Therefore, the TXL can be a fast solo (central seating position), a solo bikeraft sat at the back, or a classic tandem, all with loads of storage in the TubeBags.
Configuration and Equipment
The Sigma TXL combines touring suitability with a backpack-compatible weight. With an inner length of 180cm, it offers space up for two. Thanks to an external length of 280cm, paddled as a single, it is fast and stays on track (limited bow yawing) while remaining compact with a tube diameter of just 27cm.
Seating system
The boat comes with a variable seating system as standard, consisting of a repositionable seat pad and an adjustable contoured comfort backrest/belt as well as an additional rear seat with backrest. Paddled solo - with one seat in the central seating position - the bow and stern symmetry makes the boat similar to a conventional kayak and its paddling characteristics. The seat pad and backrest can be adjusted to accommodate paddlers of all sizes. In addition to the TubeBags, used solo the Sigma TXL offers additional storage space for luggage behind the central seat. To create space for a partner at the back, the central seat and the backrest can be easily moved forward and the rear area fitted with the Anfibio WideSeat with backrest.
TubeBags
The Anfibio Sigma TXL is equipped with extra large Anfibio TubeBags as standard. These are two centrally positioned, IPX7 waterproof luggage zips directly accessing airtight inner pockets of 100 litres each side. The respective luggage compartments and the main air chamber thus form separate air spaces. The zippers do not have to be 100% airtight for the job, as this is not necessary due to the design. Even slightly (!) opened, the system retains its function. This makes it much less vulnerable to dirt and wear.
- Luggage is automatically ‘pressure sealed’ into positioned and secured against movement
- Interior storage ensures a low center of gravity, protection against moisture and reduced susceptibility to wind
- the transport capacity of the boat is massively increased, giving easily enough space for a multi-day camping trip
Setup: First load your luggage into the TubeBags, and nearly close the zips. Then inflate the main air chamber: the pressure will squeeze the excess air out of the TubeBags. Now close the zip fully.
Dismantling: Always open the main valve first! Then open the zippers and unload the luggage.
NOTE: For easy opening and closing, it is necessary to lubricate the zip with the enclosed silicone lubricant for the first time and at regular intervals. Do not lubricate the teeth themselves, but only the outer side laminated with urethane, open and close several times and wipe off any residue with a cloth, otherwise particles may stick to the teeth.
Floor mat (optional)
An
inflatable floor mat is optionally available for the Sigma TXL. It stiffens the entire hull, insulates against cold and wet and raises the sitting position. This improves paddling comfort and characteristics, possible.
Please note: In combination with the floor mat, we recommend the solid Anfibio FoamSeat or the Anfibio PackSeat (light) for the front seat and the Anfibio PackSeat (with backrest) for the rear. The standard seats are thicker and will lift the centre of gravity, possibly causing instability in choppy conditions.
Application
The Sigma TXL’s many applications depend on whether it is used solo or with two people.
Paddled as a single, it is comparatively fast and stays on track with an external length of 280cm ideal for extended tours and long distances on calm waters, possibly with a lot of luggage (or child, dog or bicycle). Depending on your ability, Class 2 whitewater is easily possible. Packed size and weight (3.2 kg) keep the TXL backpack-compatible, while not ultralight.
Otherwise it remains compact with a tube diameter of 27cm. As is typical on all Sigma models, the lower panels of the front and rear segments are made of reinforced floor material.
Use in white water with two heavy paddlers is not recommended; the buoyancy of the 27 cm wide tubes is insifficient (especially without spraydeck). Due to the comparatively light tandem format (3.5 kg), classic packrafting tours (combined tours on land and water) with partners and luggage are easily possible:
- Water walks
- Trekking with water crossing
- Trolling fishing
- Geocaching (Multi Caches, T5)
- Compact sail boat tender (dinghy/tender)
- Adventure races and longer expeditions
As a single, the boat is paddled with a
double paddle. For two people you can also paddle canoe style (e.g. with a
multipaddle).
The boat is
inflated with the supplied big nylon inflation bag with which the air is forced into the boat.
Material
The Anfibio Sigma TXL is made of special TPU-nylon fabric which has a high tear and abrasion resistance despite its low weight. Additionally, the smooth, shiny surface of the coating is very scratch-resistant. The TPU nylon we use has been tried and tested for many years.
The Sigma TXL is also available in Plus(+) material version. The Plus(+) variant of our TPU nylon is 17% heavier, but 80% stronger thanks to higher weave density, stronger fibres and increased layer thicknesses.
Assembly
All seams on the boat are welded, the tube seams are then additionally sewn. Adhesives are completely dispensed with. This saves weight, costs and eliminates toxic fumes from the environment. We grant an extended 3-year guarantee on material and workmanship.

Repair
In the (unlikely) case of damage, we recommend LifePatch; temporary repairs can be carried out in the field in a few minutes. Pinprick holes can also be treated with a small dab of of
Aquasure.
Carbon footprint
For each Anfibio Packraft produced since 2018, we financially support climate action that leads to an equivalent reduction / storage of greenhouse gas emissions caused by the products.
